Industrial suppliers online stores have a special need. Their products are offered in a single picture, but each item varies in size, material, or functional specification. Helping online shoppers locate your store and the page that displays the closest match to their search is a big challenge. Indeed, improved SEO is essential for automobile industries and companies selling after-market parts, machine parts, manufactural supplies, and safety signs online. DCS has the answer.

Your online store sells items with similar looks but different details, and their differences can be described in fixed patterns. Say your store also has a long list of stock items with similar needs. DCS has come up with a new approach and recently delivered a case of this nature. As evidenced by traffic reports and online sales, we think our approach is noteworthy.

Google search: site:weneedsigns.com. You will get 6,420 results. Within 1 to 2 month after the new Safety Sign department been introduced online, online shopper google for ANSI, OSHA, or bilingual safety signs, they should always see the item listings from WeNeedSigns on the 1st page of search results.

Similar demands are found in automobile after-market parts and accessories. Most of these parts have only one look, but there are minor differences for different years and models.

Also, many industrial suppliers have similar needs. Their products all look the same in picture, but each item varies by size, material, or functional specification. In our case, the client is providing Safety Signs in the store. Any Safety Sign Face, i.e. icon + text message (eg. Danger: High Voltage) needs 16 types of size and material combination. If the store carries 500+ safety sign faces, its stock item could easily goes up to 8,000 items.

Many stores use the X-cart option and the variant feature to answer the above needs. DCS has different approaches to this issue. Here is why:
1) The X-cart user manual, in the variant section, tells you that heavily reliance on the variant feature in your online store dramatically impacts and slows down server performance. As we have about, 500 sets of products, use of the variant option would be inefficient.

2) Considering search engine optimization (SEO). The closer the match the greater the chance and specific search will be found. That is, when we use the product title “Danger – High Voltage , Safety Aluminum Sign, 08″ x 12″”, the product has a much higher chance to be directly located than if it were named “Danger – High Voltage Safety Sign.”

3) To support this SEO design, DCS has developed a mass item production and management tool. With A few simply clicks, store managers can generate hundreds of products, and afterward, adjust hundreds of product prices based on changes in materials and other details of the product. It is an efficient tool in handling mass quantities of products.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the last mile, the critical bridge, between businesses and their targeted customers. With the huge amount of new web content appearing on the internet every day, a website undiscovered is a website wasted.

DCS Production believes that the SEO strategy should be well planned from initiation– an embedded component in its website design. Successfully established SEO brings benefits:

Website owners will not have to worry about whether their website contents can be located in the search results of search engines such as Google or Bing, and many other SEs.

The site’s organic ranking (search engine results ranking without pay for it) will improve over time.

With SEO website structure built, the posting of new website content will guarantee more frequent appearance in search engine results.

In 2008, DCS production rebuilt the website of eCharterBus, a tour and transportation service provider based on San Francisco. Since then, eCharterBus has received consistent Internet leads from its online inquiry form.

The Conversion Funnel calculation determines the success of a SEO campaign:

Number of visitors to the website *
conversion rate (%) of visitors who sent in inquiries *
conversion rate (%) of service providers successfully nailing the deals

Feedback from the client reveals that they are confident in their conversion rate as a small-scale website and company. They were most interested in the improvement of their organic ranking, i.e. more presence, and higher ranking. Also, they hoped to get their website ready before investing in Google AdWords.

Our client first provided a list of what they can offer in group transportation and revealed where their competitive strength lies. DCS Production researched search engine behavior and tested from real search results.

We generated a huge pool of optimized keywords from all aspects of group transportation. With the material ready, DCS copywriters wrote the service description page in 15 subsets. We confirmed with the client that this method provides the best and most accurate web presentation of eChartBus.

Publishing these newly SEO-based pages is not the last step. Adjustment and tracking is the 2nd part of the task. We will cover more details in a few months.

(The text is the same color as the background, and hence cannot be seen by the viewer, but can be visible to the search engine spiders.) I believe Google does penalize for hidden text, since it is an attempt to manipulate rank. Although they don’t catch everyone.

Simple HTML verification is NOT required (but advised, since it could contribute to your page quality factor – PQF).

Since the above 4 items are so controversial, I would like to add this comment:

There are many things that Google would LIKE to have webmasters do, but that they simply cannot control, due to logistical considerations. Their only alternative is to foment fear and doubt by implying that any violation of their “suggestions” will result in swift and fierce demotion.

(This is somewhat dated – G is fixing these things.)

IN GENERAL, this works pretty well to keep webmasters in line. The fallacy of this is that attentive webmasters can readily observe continuing, blatant exceptions to these official pronouncements.

There are many anecdotes about Goggle “taking care” of a problem. Google states that they do not provide hand-tweaked “boosts”, but are silent about hand-tweaked demotions. They occur, for sure. To believe otherwise is naive. Wouldn’t YOU swat the most obnoxious flies? I would.

It is becoming easier to determine the best thing to do. Try to avoid any Google penalties or demotions.

Phrase-based ranking, filters, penalties

G has moved to a daily dance. Multiple changing factors are applied daily. GOOD LUCK NOW on trying to figure things out!

IN ADDITION, some the above factors are being “tweaked” daily. Not only are the “weights” of the factors changed, but the formula itself changes. Change is the only constant.

An algo change can boost or demote your site. I put this in the negative factors section, because your position is never secure, unless of course, you are huge (PR=7 or greater). If you simply cannot achieve top position, your only alternative to first page SERP exposure may be Google Ad Words (you pay for exposure).

Today, I searched for an extremely competitive “2-word term”, and I found that NOT ONE of the top ten Google SERPs had even one of the words on the page.

YOWSA!

Today’s theory – when it doesn’t matter, anybody can get #1 in a second, if they know the on-page rules. BUT, after a certain “commercial competitive level”, the “semantic analysis” algo kicks in, and less becomes more. The keyword density rules are flipped upon their noggins. I think that we are witnessing the evolution of search engine anti-seo sophistication, right before our very eyes. Fun stuff.

The Google Directory is produced by an unknown, ungoverned, unpoliced, ill-intentioned, retaliatory, monopoly enterprise, consisting of profiteering power-ego editors feathering their own nests – the ODP. AOL is making millions, and needs to police it’s run-amok entity. Enough already!

This is a tough one.

Google’s directory comes STRAIGHT from the DMOZ directory. You should try to get into dmoz.

But you can’t.

Be careful whom you approach with the old spondulix -

Formal DMOZ Bribe Instructions.

It is almost impossible to get into DMOZ.

Google needs to DO SOMETHING about populating its own directory with the skewed, incomplete, poorly determined results from the dysfunctional Open Directory Project – the ODP!
