承接客戶網站專案十年了。什麼樣的客戶，什麼目的的網站，我與伙伴們都能按專案中的規劃與要求，逐項執行，並順利完成訓練、交接。

兩個月前，一封客戶冾詢依湄兒，它提出簡單的幾項要求，諸如双語網站、本地支援，非營利單位․․等等。順利承接之後，經過一個多月的構思、開發、與數據資料輸入，直到它上線亮相，自始至終，我都有一種難以言喻的驅動力來挑戰我自己，我應該運用整合式的網路資源，去凸顯一個遠在美國的私人機構，如何有效地投入慈善經費，到幾十個中國偏遠地區去建設希望小學，培育成千上萬貧窮孩童的知識基礎，並造就它們人生發展的可能性。

這個專案中的基本資訊元素是：遠距離而且分散的地理位置、詳細的個別學校資料，约六十餘所，目標是百所；以及數以百計的學校與學生的照片與影片。非直接的客觀條件是：基金會經營這項志業近十年，投入十分龐大的慈善基金，這項人力資源計劃嘉惠數千生活在偏遠地區學童，與這項計劃對下一代孩童就學條件改善，所能貢獻的深刻意義。扮演一個網站建築師，我清楚定位它的觀眾是美國的中、英文讀者。

我當然不甘心，停留於固定模式：出一張大表格，列出所有學校的資料與鏈接了事。在開始構思的頭幾天，我也只能猜想它可能的呈現模式，不過只有五成把握，反正案子在手上，盡心做就是了。直到一個星期天晚上，我用基金會給我的一個希望小學地址，在Google map上標出所在的位置，我驚訝地說不出話來，見下圖，黄土高原上幾棟獨立建築物，最新、最鲜明的紅屋頂不就是嗎！在這一刻，我知道初步的方向有了。

但是，如果我把這個想法擴充到已經完成的六、七十所學校，那會是什麼模樣？對遠在美國的讀者，那會帶來什麼樣的使用者經驗？我直覺判斷要善用這種空間跳躍，把觀眾從優渥的美國客廳投入每所學校所立足的實景實物環境中。

因此，大膽地建議客戶依這個方向走下去，感謝它們對我這個老嚮導的信賴，它們不猶豫的就投入了一周的人力去建立所有學校的地理數據與資料檔案。當我看到資料輸入的结果，我不得不說那又是另一次的視覺經驗。

技術條件方面，我依循這兩年主流趨勢，下載重量比較大的影音檔案，全都用免費或小經費的雲端技術解決。運用Google map 與 Flickr 相簿，以及WordPress編輯管理都是衝著搜尋引擎優化 （search engine optimization）目標去安排的。

話說至此，不得不提一下，近期發生的一些相關新聞事件。一是中國知名富人陳光標先生，到訪台灣，並倡行「高調行善」，他的獨特風格在中國是因地制宜，走到台灣與日本就感到水土不服；對照石氏基金會的作風，它不求聞達於當世，但它所撒播與肥沃的人才種子，是可以生生不息、流傳永世的。

二是日本發生百年來的最慘烈的天災，先是地震、海嘯，後續是核電廠危機。日本對我們來說，又十分熟悉、卻又十分遙遠。新聞所提及的城市名稱，好比仙台市，名稱十分熟悉，但要能直接說出它的地理位置，一般人可能辦不到，加上海嘯對地表向強力沖刷，每個人都想知道地理位置、地貌的改變，更進一步關心的是，同樣的事情會不會發生在自家門前。在這一刻，遠端而且即時的地理資訊是所有計劃與行動的最大公約數。

網站行銷常被人詬病之處是老王賣瓜，網站的编輯主導它所傳遞訊息，亦或表層亦或間接透露。我試著在基金會專案中，讓事實與客觀媒體去呈現具體現況，與其說它是一個志業行銷網站，不如稱它為善行義舉執行進度報告網站。在此專案中，我對網路應用有了另一層認識。同時，一直被告之「財富的價值，不是擁有，而是怎麼使用」，基金會的作為，真正地實踐了「使用」而且創造更大價值的觀點。

For this project, we converted thousands of legacy records from many local computers to a cloud-based storage. Also, we facilitated an accurate, scheduled response process that allows all inquiries to respond by the  next work day. Lastly, we offered a series of training videos that explain and demonstrate CRM–how to process customer leads and develop valuable, long-term relationships with them.

Major Steps:

Step 1: A staging site converts prospective leads of all origins to the standard CONTACT format (Lead Card in CRM)

Prospectives students come from a variety of resources: website inquiry forms, office visits/calls, campus tours,  emails to advisors, referrals from vendors, and school events/seminar participation.

Step 2: We define schedules and resources to process the inquiries timely and accurately

Step 3:  Daily email alerts announce:

• Prospective assignments to each department
• Updates in contact information and changes in status and activity.
• Marketing campaign activities and events

Step 4:  Marketing departments and individual academic departments process their personal and automated follow-up processes (Leads nurturing).

Step 5: All staff members learn their roles through a series of video tutorials

As mentioned in the post, many major corporations hire application specialists to custom-make their presence  on FaceBook.  I would like to introduce a few easy and free tools provided by FaceBook or 3rd party developers.  It won’t take long to implement and it’ll get you on the right track at a low cost.

Forward your contents to FaceBook

Automatically publish your WordPress post on your personal Facebook Profile or on your Facebook page

Reconnect with the networks you’ve built over the years.  You may send frequent emails or newsletters to these connections.  But as a friend on Facebook, your recent posts and activities are automatically published on their Profile Wall.  If they are interested, you’ll turn an old connection into a warm lead.

Add a Facebook LIKE button onto your own web page

Just add a Facebook LIKE button onto your homepage or pages in your website.  Your page’s thumbnails and links will show up on your visitor’s Profile Wall.  His/her FaceBook friends will also be prompted by the action.  Your website visitors therefore become a distribution channel through their Facebook user activities.

Login users with their existing accounts from Facebook

(the same feature applies for accounts from Twitter, Google, Yahoo!, LinkedIn,…)

People are tired of remembering their usernames and passwords on dozens of websites.   If your website asks for user sign-up and login, your visitor will likely not proceed to the registration process.   If they are Facebook, Gmail, or Yahoo mail users, this will be big relief.  Example: CNN.com allows for registration and login through an existing Facebook account.

My comments on CNN.com shows on my Profile Wall.  All my Facebook friends see it.

Benefits:

* Build rich user profiles by enabling your visitors to import their profile data from their social network or email accounts.
* Create new accounts without registering and maintaining another new username and password.
* Display verified identity and user icon of a preferred network on blog comments.

This feature is not just limited to Facebook. On one of the DCS posts, I added comments on the DCS site through two other account names.

for both Homepage and inside introduction, both are managed by slideshow admin tool, developed by DCS. For each slide image, editor may add title, caption, link destination, and a image.

This revision is initiated by SEO expectation to this custom marketing site. With all kinds of editing tool empowers the site editor on content updating jobs. We looking forward the improvement of its organic ranking in next few month.

We are not really into neither Horoscope nor the social networking direction.  This app, of course its FREE app,  is just an experiment.  We use this development to get our engineers explore the user experience and coding in the popular mobile device.  We know the advantage and limitation of mobile device over the R&D process.

What we really interested is to port the web-based services to the mobile device.  A few years ago, DCS began to focus on e-service on top of Online Market & Sales.  It’s a major trend of expanding the usage of your website. It  leverages your corporate resource from physical world to any where your customer need you.   Our major clients from a few industries,  such as Signs, Printing, Built-to-order system,  School, & Real Estate, already implement the e-Service idea in their projects.

The Mobile service (mService) will be a plus in addition to existing (eService).  We see the possibility of mServices in these  applications:

• Consumer order and pay for  products from their mobile device
• Consumer query/request for what they need when their are away from desktop
• Business deliver just-in-time & small amount of info to their customers by subscription

Pages and Groups both have their own individual functions, but one shines over the other for several different reasons (I’m talking about Pages, if you hadn’t guessed!)

* Pages Get Internal Promotion on Facebook.com
Facebook Page updates will show up on your fans’ page feed – Facebook Group updates will not. I’ve found Facebook Pages to get more internal promotion on Facebook than groups do. Page additions appear on all fans’ live feeds (unless a fan hides them). They are promoted on the right hand “suggestion” column when your friends join them – Facebook Groups don’t get this treatment.
* Pages Have More Options for Customization
Groups are just that – strictly groups. It’s basically a mini message board, with a single area where you can post a message that shows at the top of the group. Pages, however, are fully customizable – show or hide whatever you want, or add applications or modules to your Page. This really makes it become more of a mini website than anything else.
* The Survival of a Facebook Group
Facebook Groups require constant interaction to survive, much like a message board. Like Pages, they have many of the same options, except the focus of a Group is the community; whereas the focus of a Page is whatever you post to it. Groups are more difficult to maintain, because they tend to get “buried” without constant activity.
* Search Engine Visibility
When it comes to getting visibility off of Facebook: Pages can be seen by non-Facebook users, and can be spidered by search engines. Facebook Groups cannot! It’s also important to mention that Facebook Pages can have a “vanity URL” (Facebook.com/MyPage), where as Groups do not have this feature.
* Anonymity
The creator of a group is forever immortalized on the group itself, with your linked Facebook avatar, stating that you are the group’s admin. There is no way to remove this, which is bad news for those who wish to remain anonymous. Pages, on the other hand, are completely anonymous – nobody will know that you own it, unless you make a public statement!

The 1st version is a successful launch.  In terms of Google organic searching, it rapidly replace a local institution tried to cloak their school name.  In about one month after its full launching, the school site has presented a full spectrum of contents to market the University on the internet.  One of the key point is that we offered web page publishing tool to school staffs and faculty members.  The organic growing of contents and structure come to nature.

DCS developed  the online publishing tool for school staffs to maintain the website in these applications:

– School Degree / Department / Major
– Course List and detail description under each major
– Faculty Member List
– Extension program course list, Seminar List, Certification List
– News announcement
– Latest upcoming events roll up on homepage
Because of high volume of search query and click-through from Google search, Google adjusted its ranking and optimized the site links in about 3 weeks after the school site launched.

By this version, Nov 2008, school is introducing a series extension (Continuing Eduction Program) to promote and deliver the short-term and quickly changed Continuing Education programs.  It’s the focus on the phase II projects.
